The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is a relic of the Cold War. It was incorporated on April 4, 1949 as a defensive alliance of Western European countries with Canada and the United States to protect those countries from the encroachments of the Soviet Union.
Since 1991, however, the Soviet empire with longer exists and Russia has been cooperating economically with Western European countries by providing them with gas, oil and all types of raw materials. But the U.S. government does not see it that way. Prefer to retain its role as protector of Europe and haughtiness of the sole superpower in the world.
