storylines - INTERVIEW

-Dear Henry and Fabrizio, thanks to share a little 'time together in Viadelluniversità. Why do not you tell us a little how the project came Storylines? I mean, What made you embark on this new musical experimentation, what was your intent in this project?
Henry: The Storylines are the current state of cooperation between us that lasted many years. The project starts from a place that we decided to take when we realized that we were playing that does not satisfy us anymore, that we were a bit grown up. With some changes in training, we decided to create the storylines, with the goal not easy to mix our musical intentions, sometimes very different. Our goal is to continue to search without frighten us, they often changed the Storylines since they were born and continue to do so certainly for quite a while yet.
-All of you have had previous musical experience, do you? What's different storylines and definitely not what you would like to be?
Henry : Fabrizio before joining us ThreatCon played with Charlie, and does so still, I Anthony and Frederick (now struggling with his solo project, Jackeyed) played in this group that I mentioned , with whom we have entered a dead end, a vicious circle of a corny music to which we did not feel even closer. The Storylines have arisen as a solution all this. Fabrizio however, I think it is a completion, like us and Charlie ThreatCon are somehow complementary. As for what we do not want to be absolutely not be able to answer well, we do not want to be an Italian group for Italian, for sure, and do not want to hear come even if we ever get somewhere. Being content is very dangerous and I personally can not stand the clique of the landing that is not to be cheering car came from nowhere, we prefer to be in the middle of the staircase, which is the one below or one above.
- is released your second album in spring June Leaves auoprodotto from your independent label Megaphone, is not it? Why not also tell us of this project in the project?
Henry: Our first album is really our first full-length album. Previous work ep are a few tracks, then in small experiments converged onto the disk. Megaphone is important to us, but it is not exactly our label, is a project that shares the groups involved in the management of things and not playing with us. It 'wonderful to see the potential of so many people want to make it come together, the potential of Megaphone are endless, it is almost a collective. Now we are working very hard on a Christmas compilation due out in free-download tracks and gather in large part unknown bands all over Europe and Italian, a project of mutual promotion and an attempt to show that there is an undergrowth of quality outside the scenes .
-Personally, Pond is perhaps the song that I like best of all. As you build your writing lyrics and music? Follow a line of work or the default process of creation is free in time and space?
Henry : Basic is a free process, but it is obvious that is generated over time un metodo che tende a ripetersi nel costruire le canzoni. I suoni erano super ovatt
Altri sono nati da nottate passate in sala prove, or by passing the material at a distance, such as SP1, born from a sample banal that I had sent from Paris and the other three have turned into one of the finest pieces of the disk, or other pieces still have changed considerably during the mix by Fabrizio, who has put his taste and gave it a shot its very personal. As for writing texts, are very personal and hermetic, but I do not see a limit in all this, indeed, I have always appreciated that texts of this kind give rise to startling epiphanies. I often, I get to listen to something and then I read the text and suddenly everything is clear. They are experiences that end up being shared without being at all equal, is a very beautiful.
-Apparently in your musical experimentation enter and interact with their new instrumental and vocal sounds. Looking for a musical or an accurate picture? I mean, there is an intent to create atmosphere and background in your particular places (I think so) and if so which ones?
Henry : Often mind being associated with a place. It is basically understood, for sometimes it seems that as a group do what it does so only for the particular place where he found himself living. As far as our production is otherwise enjoyable for us to talk about Piancavallo, where he was our rehearsal room and where it was recorded much of the disc. It is a place that we have chosen, in fact, three of us live in town or lived there, and it is easy to add to the fact that attend universities in four different cities for three quarters of an hour by road more regularly to try to do . But we can not deny that many of the atmospheres that we are born in the disk from there, a place for us was the escape from our universities, to everything that happens to us, for us to do another, or synthesize the rest, where the Most of the time it was just us, the mountains and snow. As I can not deny the influence of the year I spent in Paris, in negative or positive, which were composed a few songs on the disc, just as Pond. We are not looking for an image or an atmosphere, what we do comes from us, from what we live and how it mixes with the places, where the concrete in some seasons. For this record, at least it was.
Fabrizio: I think it is due to the enormous input that we are subjected, in an almost autonomous because only once a month and without notice, we exchange the great discoveries. This leads to different musical routes of travel, always based on common tastes and that 'a lot stronger. Lately I personally am concentrating on the importance of silence and voice in a piece on the music and not empty needing to play at a concert. It sounds like a blowjob mental but in reality a lot of time to drink (joke).
-What do you say about the health of the music today? What do you like and what is not?
Fabrizio : For myself I believe that, overall, the music remains sound, based on the values that have always run like a desire to express something, inspiration and innovation. What has changed and 'that once (I think, not having personally experienced) there was a minor discrepancy between mainstream commercial and music made with passion. Most of what are now pushed to radio and television and 'a pre-packaged junk, musicians pushed to the limit fixed salary, two hundred concerts a year and idolatry of the teen-ager to the stars - and you just do not consider the game and' made . What remains to be done and 'rely on sites such as Pitchfork and thank the existence of Youtube and Nodata.tv who give us permission, that it is legal or illegal, to hear a devastating amount of music on gigabyte gigabyte per month.
things, "dematerialized" the CD as an entity 'in itself and makes it a mp3 in the mass, leading to two choices (I speak always for me): 1. frigates and without even listening to the song title, a true son of mp3. 2.comprare solid supports bookmarks, either vinyl or CD or even the original mp3 Bandcamp or from sites like iTunes Store. - I am personally very little one and two, but I promise to improve. From personal experience I find it unfair the way of music, in the beautiful country in the sense that there is always the cousin of the cousin who plays in local popularity, while a group can make all the efforts of this world and the largest figate and stay in rehearsal room because there is no public encouraged to discover from scratch, rather than pay € 3 to watch strangers play with those 3 € I drink a beer and I see two small tits the bar. We know we have none, we received many compliments and it makes me think that maybe something good we did well ourselves.
.. and now we start with step number 2.
Henry: I use the right to remain silent
-follow one or more musical patterns? Would you like to be a model of music? Do you like labels like "indie" etc..? You have a cliché?
Henry : is obvious that what we hear influences us a lot, but we hear so many different things so if we put together the four of us, not I would say that there are specific reference models. We did not invent anything, so there seems to be a "model of music." Labels such as "indie", etc.. If they mean a genuine way of relating to those who make music, some that we like. If it means the contrary, be sectoral and spring up the ass even no.
domandina-game: choose between a CD that you would bring with you all in the desert and a space (to be distinguished because the mood is different I think)
Fabrizio : Alligator of the desert would take The National Space Tarot sport of Fuck Buttons.
Henry: I do not know, maybe in the desert The lemon of pink The books, perhaps because it is accommodating and watery, or maybe not? perhaps because I can keep in the loop for a whole month. In the space I do not know what state of mind I could have, but even in the desert in fact, seem to me very close to the bottom so I do not know ... say Bromst Dan Deacon in the case is ending the air.
-Last but not least, what is music for you? You need it far?
Fabrizio : enough to be found for three years to 1100 meters each Friday in practice.
Henry : to tell the truth I'm often asked in recent months in which I find to have ninety percent of my time occupied by the university and these strange people. Simply because I need the rest I could do without, and I'm really bad at times that is when I realize I am not having taken the time it deserved.
-A in December released a Christmas compilation with the help of several independent artists, tell us how the idea of this achievement and especially what is the spirit that animates it?
Henry: The idea comes from the assumption that if a person or group that produces music, as well as to promote himself, to find ways to promote other artists also valid, and also things come to an exponentially greater number of listeners, and all without spending a dime. And last year, with seven participants worked almost all of the area so much. The compilation of Christmas this year includes twenty artists from eight different countries, not to give less value to what is produced in Italy by us and the artists that we invited, but rather putting them in an international environment beyond the scenes of the neighborhood filled with satisfaction as ephemeral as useless. The compilation will be downloadable for free from December 23 to the site www.megaphone.it .

the embers of an old friendship

The novel of which I treat in my first collaboration is, my humble opinion, one of the most intense born from the imagination of its author, Sándor Márai (1900 - 1989). Not surprisingly, it was in 1998, the first chosen by the publisher Adelphi (with his usual commendable foresight) to discover this writer to the Italian public. The life of Mara, well described in the essay by the curator Volume Marinella D'Alessandro, placed at the end of the novel, reflecting the turbulent events of the past century and at the same time the personal hardships that are common to many contemporaries. This is also why, in addition to his writings and for his wonderful prose, which must be considered among the most important writers of the twentieth century Europe, akin to other large and were famous for a certain period of their life to end up relegated to the margins from political upheavals. But we come to the book, The embers . How to introduce it? I feel I can say that it envelops the reader in a web of emotions, making him take the side of one hour and then another player in a vortex, line after line, increases continuous tension and leads to an ending that can not be forgotten. After forty years, two men will meet again in a castle at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains where he lives, alone and in perfect isolation from the world, one of the two, Henrik, a tired old general whose sole purpose for existence is constituted precisely by this meeting , expected and imagined all the time. The other man, Konrad, spent all those decades in the Far East, even though he almost frantically waiting time of return. From the two young men, who met at a military college in the wonderful capital of Vienna, had been inseparable, "like twins in the womb. [...] Their
to
micizia was serious and silent, like all great feelings that will last a lifetime. [...] Also realized, from the first moment, that this meeting would have bound them for life. " Finally, after an "exile" of forty years, Konrad returns from the East, to review Vienna, completely changed - like everything in Europe, after two horrible conflict - "Everything that swore loyalty no longer exists "he says at one point. In addition to Vienna, "this house" that Konrad wants to review: refers to the castle of the general, in which the two together also Krisztina, the general's wife, spent much time in the past. Among the old people, involving them in this conversation that after so long - and brings them to discuss everything from the East, the war, but most of their youth and moments relived in detail in their minds, which have before their separation - as appears in the shadow, the ghost of this woman, who, never having betrayed her husband dug a deep furrow between the two friends, who has not yet been closed after more than forty years. This is the secret shared by both, this "force that burns the fabric of life as a malignant radiation, but at the same time gives warmth to life and keeps it in tension," which allowed them to survive in the midst of "peace and war, [...] things miserable and great things, [...] [the] outbreak of fighting and [the] recover cartel 'to meet again and talk, talk, talk for a whole night, between the fireplace burning and the storm raging on the beautiful surrounding countryside, rediscovering "the embers" that brooded in the ashes of their distance.
Everything is designed to reach the final duel, a duel "without swords" between the illusions that the two friends have created on the decisiveness of this their last meeting, and that will prove to be unfounded, especially for Henrik, who sees dissolve his revenge becoming itself an illusion, when the night is done. The charm of the book is also attributed to the wonderful way of writing Mara, whose clear prose, straightforward yet profound, relentless, leaves the reader with no way out and forces him to move forward, until the last line, without the slightest tediarlo: every word is well placed, every sentence takes the reader for its clarity and pages run faster, until the final epilogue. A style that encourages reading and manages to convey both deep reflection on friendship, love, but also on changes in everything from running time and the wars that kill, immersing the reader in a calda, antica ma allo stesso tempo estremamente suggestiva, da cui si rimane indelebilmente colpiti.

meet a stranger tall, dark

Of course, the joke rather pessimistic overview of the colors that do not leave much room for hope, but let's think about it. In short, it is no coincidence that Shakespeare quote. Over the years go by and the more the film by the New York approach to the comedies of English playwright: think of actors who find themselves faced with the vicissitudes that life requires, making us laugh at first, for their natural smallness, but perverting Following the dark and unpredictable abyss that lurks behind them. As well as "typical" are the characters shaped by their mentor - Allen and Shakespeare -, motivated and driven as a puppet una precisa costruzione degli atteggiamenti.
Sally (Naomi Watts) is the daughter of Helena and Alfie, who tries to juggle in the world of art galleries, eventually taking a crush on her boss Greg (Antonio Banderas). Roy (Josh Brolin) is the husband of Sally, "from a book writer," after the only successful youth collects bottles and failures - both artistic and business. And finally there is Dia (Freida Pinto), the girl from the window opposite with its red dresses fall in love with Greg. How to juggle in this maze of relationships, frustrations and difficulties? It is difficult to accept, but the only way out is the deception that will bring people to a realization of itself unstable and precarious, poised in a balance precario.

presnitz OF ESTER

Seems to have been prepared for the first time in 1832 in honor of Francis I and Empress of Austria, so that according to some the name is a corruption of Prinzessin Preis (prize princess). Carryover is the recipe below that Esther is happy to pass on, because you too can have fun to bring a little 'in Trieste on your table!

For the filling: 100g of nuts
100g almonds 50g pine nuts
200g sugar 250g raisins (washed and drained)
Rhum
2 egg whites

Cospargiamo il ripiano di farina e, uno at a time, we form the rectangle with a rolling pin, long, narrow, high mm.Sbattiamo about 8 egg yolks, they smear a thin layer on the rectangle, before forming a roll of dough in the center that covers its entire length. Shade, forms a spiral (to Esther more like a horseshoe shape) on the pan you can cover with aluminum foil, sprinkle the egg yolk, and while Esther plays the mandolin, let it cook in the oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minuti.Buon appetite and happy holidays from me and Esther!

Did Pinky Gain Weight?

many dear friends wish you a Merry Christmas readers. I'm going through a difficult period, but the books continue to keep me company. Meanwhile, I anticipate that I picked up your invitation to read "The History" by Elsa Morante. It 's a book that I read in high school and I was thrilled. Given the difficulties of the moment I chose not to re-examined, they are nevertheless curious to know if you liked to read and what you think. I remember a few things struck me this interweaving the history of this microcosm is described in the story proper, but I felt overwhelming the unfolding of these events without any possibility of light. It 's a terrible story that is presented without a design, a purpose, but not tragically grand. Quite different from other big story in this novel whose protagonist is full. But I, in addition to the usual dose of mystery novels, I am dedicated to Konrad Lorenz. I read "And the man met the dog," and now I'm reading "The ring of King Solomon." Beautiful! Sure, you have to like animals and ethology, but books are really fascinating. Hugs to all and hope to see you Tuesday. Rosa
